02WHAT DATA WE COLLECT

We only ask for the bare minimum. We do not collect sensitive data.

If you write to us through the contact form: name, email address, mobile phone (optional, you decide whether to provide it), subject, message and any files you choose to attach.

If you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address.

If you register on the forum: your email address and the public name you choose to sign with (you choose it; it does not have to be your real name). We also store what you post — your messages and the topics you take part in —, the date of each post and the country from which you connected, as reported by our infrastructure provider. On the forum we NEVER store your IP address: only the country.

Technical browsing data: server logs (IP address, date and time, browser) generated automatically by our infrastructure provider for security reasons. In addition, your language preference and, where applicable, your participation in the community survey are stored in your own browser; that information does not travel to our servers and you can delete it whenever you wish.

We do NOT collect sensitive personal data (racial or ethnic origin, health status, religious beliefs, political opinions, sexual preference, biometric or financial data). We do NOT knowingly collect data from minors.

03WHAT WE USE YOUR DATA FOR

Primary purposes, necessary for our relationship with you:

  • To answer your message and follow up on it.
  • To address your proposal, idea, collaboration or complaint.
  • To send you the ORIGINS newsletter, only if you expressly subscribed.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to requests from the competent authority.

Secondary purposes: none.

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, transfer it, or trade it with anyone. We do not use it for third-party advertising. We are not going to flood you with emails.

The forum data is used for three things only: to let you in (we send a login link to your email, because the forum doesn't use passwords), to display your messages next to the name you chose, and to moderate the conversation when someone breaks the rules. Your email address is NEVER shown to other participants nor does it appear on any public page.

04WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

In order to operate, ORIGINS MEDIA relies on technology providers that act as data processors and only process your data following our instructions:

Cloudflare, Inc.
Site hosting, security and content delivery (USA / global network).
Brevo (Sendinblue)
Sending and receiving emails and the newsletter (European Union).
Google LLC (Gmail)
Receiving emails addressed to contacto@originsmedia.art (USA).

We carry out no other transfer of your data, except when required by a competent authority in the exercise of its powers, or when legally necessary for the defense of our rights. These transfers do not require your consent under applicable law.

For the forum, the same providers we already use across the rest of the site are involved: Cloudflare, Inc. (infrastructure, database and the Turnstile system that checks there's a person and not a robot behind a registration) and Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), which delivers the emails with the login link. They act as data processors: they process the data on our behalf and cannot use it for their own purposes.

05HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to handle your matter and, afterwards, for up to twenty-four months in case there's any follow-up. They are then deleted.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which you can do with a single click in every mailing.
  • Technical logs: for the period determined by our infrastructure provider for security reasons.

The data in your forum account is kept for as long as the account exists. If you request its deletion, we erase your email, your public name and your messages. Login links expire after twenty minutes and are destroyed after a single use.

06YOUR RIGHTS (ARCO)

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to rectify it if it is inaccurate, to cancel it when you believe it is no longer needed, and to object to its processing for specific purposes. In addition, you may revoke your consent and limit the use or disclosure of your data at any time.

How to exercise them — it's simple and it's free: send an email to contacto@originsmedia.art with the subject «ARCO RIGHTS», stating your name and a means of contact, a copy of an official ID (to confirm it's you) and which right you wish to exercise and over which data.

We will respond within a maximum of twenty business days and, if applicable, we will make it effective within the following fifteen business days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may turn to the competent authority for personal data protection in Mexico.

For the forum specifically: you can ask us at any time to change your public name, to delete a message of yours or to remove your account entirely. Write to us at contacto@originsmedia.art from the same email you registered with and we'll do it without asking you for explanations.

07HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA

  • The site operates entirely over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/SSL).
  • Messages travel encrypted all the way to our inbox.
  • Access to the information is restricted exclusively to the project's owner.
  • We do not store your data in public databases or on exposed servers of our own.

No security measure is infallible, but we apply those that are reasonable and proportionate to the size and nature of this project.

08COOKIES AND EMBEDDED VIDEOS

This site uses no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies. We don't follow you around the internet and we don't share your browsing with anyone.

We only use local storage in your own browser to remember two things that make your visit more comfortable: the language you chose and whether you have already voted in the community poll, so we don't ask you again. That information is not sent to any server and you can delete it from your browser's settings.

YouTube videos. Our case files include video hosted on YouTube, and we do it in the most respectful way the technology allows: (1) the player does NOT load until you press the play button —until that moment you only see an image of ours and YouTube receives absolutely nothing— and (2) when you decide to play it, the video is embedded in COOKIE-FREE MODE (youtube-nocookie.com), which prevents YouTube from using your visit for personalized advertising.

Put plainly: you can read a complete case file, listen to its audio tracks and browse its gallery WITHOUT YouTube or Google knowing you were here. Only if you press play is contact established with YouTube's servers, and from then on the processing of that data is governed by Google's privacy policy, which we do not control.

If you enter the forum, your browser saves a session cookie whose sole purpose is to recognize you as who you say you are while you browse. It is technically necessary —without it you would have to identify yourself on every page—, it does not track your activity outside this site, and it disappears when you press «Log out». Cloudflare's Turnstile system may also store a temporary piece of data during the check that you are not a robot; it is not used for advertising or to keep tabs on you.

09IF YOU VISIT US FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION

This site is published from Mexico and is governed by Mexican law. But it's available in several languages and people read us from many countries, so we also want to be clear with those who visit us from the European Union.

  • The basis for processing your data is your own consent: you decide to write to us or to subscribe. We never take your data without you handing it over.
  • You can request at any time the access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability of your data or the objection to its processing, by writing to contacto@originsmedia.art.
  • You can withdraw your consent whenever you wish, without this affecting the lawfulness of the prior processing.
  • Our email provider (Brevo) is located in the European Union; our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) and personal email provider (Google) also process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards set out in their own policies.
  • If you believe we have mishandled your data, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country.

We carry out no profiling, no automated decision-making, and no behavioural advertising. Your visit feeds no advertising algorithm whatsoever.

10THE FORUM: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TAKE PART

Reading the forum is free and anonymous: there is no need to register, and we accept no tracking of any kind in order to read. We only ask for data from those who choose to take part by writing.

When you register, you choose a public name. That name —and not your email— is the only thing others will see. It can be a nickname: we do not ask for your real name, nor do we verify it.

We do not use passwords. Each time you wish to log in, we send a temporary link to your email. This means we store no password of yours, and therefore there is none that could ever be leaked.

What you post on the forum is public: anyone can read it, including search engines such as Google. We ask that you not write there any personal data of your own or of third parties that you would not want to see published.

We may remove messages that breach the forum's rules and block accounts that breach them repeatedly. When a message is removed, a note is left in its place to indicate this, so that the conversation can still be followed.

Minors must not register on the forum. If we detect a minor's account, we will delete it along with their data.

11CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE

Any modification will be published on this same page along with its update date. If the change is substantial, we will also communicate it by email to those subscribed to the newsletter.

12CONSENT

By sending us a message through the form, subscribing to the newsletter, or writing to us directly, you declare that you have read this Privacy Notice and consent to the processing of your data on the terms described herein.

«Your data is used only to reply to you. Nothing more.»
